A conversational video where identities, personal histories, stories and characters are overlapped, conflated and confused. Eight amateur actors appear in the video after responding to an advertisement placed online. Each professional performer speaks about their life – hopes, dreams, anxieties, aspirations – at times slipping in and out of fictional characters. Real identities become confused and the process of becoming someone else is explored through real and imagined experience. Here, notions of performance are interrogated through conversational exchange. Flooded by light and prompted off screen – the actors struggle to assert their real and fictional personalities to the camera, and by extension to each other.
